Antonia Lofaso
Antonia's food provides a way to get inside her world. Her food inspires curiosity. This was the result as she moved out of the Long Island suburbs and entered the culturally rich environment in Los Angeles. Her belief that cavatelli and carnitas are able to coexist in harmony on a single menu conveys a sensibility which continues to evolve. What remains is her singular idea of the future and longingly recalling the past. Inspired by her Italian-American heritage Lofaso established Scopa Italian Roots in 2013 that was immediately a hit. The restaurant's version of traditional Italian food is among the most sought-after restaurants in Los Angeles. Lofaso serves consistently delicious food at Scopa, a neighborhood favorite. The patrons call it authentic and satiating. Lofaso studied from chefs who used sophisticated techniques. However, she was not afraid to take huge risk to follow her own instincts. She rose quickly through the ranks of Wolfgang Puck's Spago and went on to transform various high-profile kitchens in Los Angeles while working closely with a variety of famous celebrities. Lofaso and Sal Aurora partnered in 2011 to launch Black Market Liquor Bar Studio City. Lofaso had found home in the Black Market. Lofaso's creative freedom would be fostered by this collaborative effort. Black Market has no one direction in mind and it is that way. The first course could be chip dill, followed by shishitos peppers. Then comes an Korean Wing, and lastly the meatballs course. Antonia is the anchor of this dazzling array. In her long career Lofaso has judged her accomplishment through her ability to comprehend her audience while staying authentic to her personality. Famous appearances on Top Chef Chicago & Top Chef: All Stars highlighted her unique personality in the kitchen. Her talents are evident in her recurring roles as a judge on CNBC's Restaurant Startup judge, and on The Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child and ABC's Real O'neals. Lofaso teamed with Penguin to publish The Busy Mom's Cookbook 100 Recipes for Fast Delicious home-cooked Meals in the year 2012. The book also talks about her struggles while raising Xea as well as her studies at The French Culinary Institute. Lofaso believes that her success is due to her passion of cooking and she is capable of keeping her finger on the pulse of this industry by focusing on her kitchen. She has revolutionized the industry's aesthetic by redesigning chef wear for style and functionality with her own brand Chefletics. Lofaso cares about being true to yourself and your ideals. In order to achieve this, she's created Antonia Lofaso Catering. The new company will offer a personalized experience for clients.
